in lab yesterday

I felt that my elbow was itchy and I just scratched it a little thinking I have a long sleeve on so I couldn't have possibly gotten chemicals on myself and then I felt like it burning and I was looked down and I was like oh shit acid was eating through my long sleeve. So then I took my shirt off and went to the sink and stood there for ten minutes washing my elbow and then the TA got the head guy to come in and put some base on my acid burn.

It was not that bad except for when I looked down and didnt see my shirt anymore. but since my elbow has a lot of skin there I just barely got burned a little. my poor long sleeve tho but good thing it was cheap - forever 21- $10 - lol

sulfuric acid/hydrochloric. serious stuff.

Lately, I am disgusted by playa guys that are really good looking and are always just tryna hit and can because they are that good looking. I don't know why I am friends with guys like this, but they give me good insight on what goes on inside a playa guys head and it's pretty interesting. When you talk to a nice guy and a playa guy wayyy different thoughts run through their heads.

Not all guys are like this and I really appreciate those who do not take advantage of girls. Because sometimes, girls can and will be easy so it is up to the guy to not be a jackass.

on a separate note: He visited me at work today but I was working so I could not talk long. And by now, I am crushing pretty hard. I haven't gotten into a relationship after the last shipwreck for a while and I now know what to look and not look for in a guy. I've come a long way. And I'm for damn sure proud of myself =)

excitement/frustrations

I am excited to have my own room next year!! So, we just signed for a lease to a four bedroom duplux that has two story. Next year, we'll be able to throw better parties/kickbacks and you are all invited iand I can't wait. I'm not sure where imma live for one month in the summer cuz my lease ends in August..but my new apt begins in July so imma have to crash somewhere for summer school.

Man, apt business is so stressful. Having to search online, go look at in person, sign, and decide roommates. Speaking of roommates, I cannot wait to be rid of one of the girls I live with this year. 90% of the time she talks shit about anyone she can think of. She bashes guys like none of them are good enough to date her, and she thinks they all want to date her?? -_- And she hates on every girl for no reason at all. What a stupid reason to hate other girls!! For no reasons...0_0.. I can't stand her.

I am still going to live with two of my gfs that I live with right now and we are in the process of filling the fourth room of our duplux. We have a bunch of girls to choose from and that is a little stressful also. Hopefully, the new girl with not be like the last chic that I have to live with for another quarter...other than that..it's pretty damn exciting =D

Today I wasted my whole day making this:

http://i29.tinypic.com/c2lvo.jpg

but it's so legit, I think it was an ok use of time.

more and more

losing track of time and space. i think that is the best way to study. i get so frustrated sometimes because i have to study so hard esp with four finals creeping up. And then I think of the people who wish they could study like we do. You know, people not in the US, who never had the opportunity to get an education because they had other struggles of their own.

so how big are my struggles?!?! not very big.

I have my books. Paper. Pens. Pencils. Printer. Computer. Food. Money....freaking everything and it's still hard.

Science is FUCKING hard. who the hell made this shit up. i have to memorize 16 reactions that don't make any sense because its at the microscopic level, and the best advice they can give me is to just memorize it. After that, remember everything I learned in the last ten weeks. After that do this for four classes. After that, take Organic Chemistry and Biology final on the same day. After that take Neurology, physiology, and behaviors the day after. After that, remember that all my grades depend on my finals, not slack off, and not stress out.

AND THEN, wash all my clothes, pack, and go home.

I'll be on break from March 22 - March 30. Let me know whats crackin ;)

fight the cold and flu!!

Prepare for Cold Season!
The best natural protection from cold and flu is to keep your immune system going strong and to practice preventative measures. Wash your hands frequently with soap, and wash your face at least twice a day. Also, protect your upper back and neck area, because this is where most of the colds will attack the body. The activities listed below will help you build your immunity.

6 Simple Ways to Boost Your Immunity

1. Rest up.
Studies show that your immune system function drops by an average of 60% after just three nights of poor sleep, so be sure you are getting plenty of quality rest, at least eight hours each night.

2. Lessen your stress.
Keep your stress level low with meditation, tai chi or yoga.

3. Eat sweet potatoes and mushrooms.
These foods help optimize your body's immunity function. Sweet potatoes contain higher amounts of vitamin C (a famous immune support) and beta-carotene than carrots, as well as being rich in DHEA, a potent immunity booster. Certain types of mushrooms, like shitake, maitake and reishi, contain polysaccharides, sterols, coumarin, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that increase your immune function.

4. Pick potent herbs.
Eat lots of potent herbs and spices, especially garlic, ginger, cilantro, and oregano.

5. Astralagus: the immunity super herb.
Astralagus has been used in Asia to prevent cold and flu for more than 2,000 years. This herb stimulates the body's production of interferon, which is a potent immune protein that boosts your ability to fight infections and diseases.

6. Keep your middle warm.
In Chinese medicine, the abdomen is considered the storehouse of the body's energy. Keeping your abdomen warm and protected from weather extremes has immense immune benefits. A good way to replenish your energy bank is to regularly place a hot water bottle on your abdomen. Also beneficial is applying abdominal wraps soaked in rejuvenating herbal solutions, or pouches containing similar herbs.

Natural Remedies and Relief for Cold and Flu
If it's too late to prepare, and you are already suffering from the runny nose, headache and fever of cold and flu, these recommendations can help you get you back on your feet in no time!
• At the first sign of a cold attack, drink scallion and ginger tea, and lots of liquids.

• Fasting or light eating is sometimes recommended when you have a cold, so as not to detract from the body's healing by having to digest heavy foods. In general, eat as little solid food as possible to avoid burdening the immune system, but drink plenty of warm fluids such as soups, porridges and tea.

• Get plenty of rest and don't engage in exercise. When you have a cold, exercise depletes the body of qi, the vital energy needed to fight pathogens.

• Taking up to 50 milligrams of zinc a day may help reduce the symptoms of the common cold.

• It is helpful to inhale eucalyptus, oregano, and lavender, which are antibacterial, antiviral, and decongesting.

• I often recommend to my patients our Cold and Flu Formula that contains natural herbs like honeysuckle flower, burdock root, apricot seed, mulberry root and others that support healthy immune function, and comfort cold and flu symptoms. This formula is available online at askdrmao.com.

I hope you use these suggestions in times of sickness and that they serve you well. I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you stay healthy, live long, and live happy!

-Dr. Mao

the creation of life

I have learned that life started by the random processes of nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen combined together with the energy of the sun over the span of billions of year. I mean think about it, if we can make a baby in a span of 9 months, then how easy could life appear from nothing over a span of billions of years? At the end of day i think of questions such as these:

1) Humans are like 6 seconds in the clock of how long the Earth has been formed, so what other life forms were there in the past before us? before dinosaurs?

2) The cosmos is infinitely big, is there another planet Earth somewhere far far away in space?

3) What's it like to be in the black hole?

4) What role does god have in science?
